Since then we have seen an enthusiastic response, not only in terms of the number of visits to the site (over 10,000), but also the number of people who have submitted content and set up profiles and blogs at the MyLabforCulture interactive space. Now the German and Polish versions of the site are up and running too. Mobilising Innovation in European Arts and Culture (MEAC) MEAC was a 9-month feasibility study on the design of a large-scale research programme looking at the causes and consequences of the transnational and transregional mobility of European artists, intellectuals, arts managers and other cultural sector professionals. The project was led by the ERICarts Institute (www.ericarts.org), supported by LabforCulture, and carried out in cooperation with 13 researchers from across Europe. Several brainstorming meetings were held as well as the seminar, 'Brain Drain - Brain Gain' (Moscow, November 2005). Case studies considered the barriers to artistic migration and mobility in the Western Balkans, Lithuania, Poland, Austria, France, Italy and the Nordic countries. A full report, highlighting 10 key areas for further conceptual and empirical research, is expected in autumn 2006.

Bridge Guard Residential Art/Science Centre (case study) The Case Studies section of LabforCulture.org offers a lively behind-the-scenes perspective on European cultural cooperation. It carries the voices of artists and administrators who have participated in trans-border projects across Europe. (http://www.labforculture.org/en/content/view/full/180) One case study featured in this section is the Bridge Guard residency programme. Begun in 2004, the Bridge Guard programme supports artists and scientists who work on projects that emphasise making connections, uniting opposites, and encountering the unknown. It offers the opportunity of a residency in Štúrovo, Slovakia. Based in the local history museum, artists/scientists-in-residence can work on their own projects while guarding the historically important Mária Valéria bridge between Štúrovo and Esztergom (Hungary) as well as taking part in activities with the local community ('As long as the mental connection with people is intact, the bridge is not endangered'). On the Move - Forthcoming Activities in a Partnership Mode On The Move (http://www.on-the-move.org) is a partner in the project 'Mobile.Home', which celebrates the 'EU Year of Workers' Mobility'. The Mobile.Home Helpdesk responds to questions concerning legal and financial issues encountered by artists and cultural operators travelling across national borders for work. The Helpdesk will be available until 15 October. The Mobile.Home partners (Goethe Institute Brussels, Visiting Arts UK and the Fitzcarraldo Foundation) are commissioning mobility stories from a number of artists. These 'portraits' will appear on various websites from the autumn. The Mobile.Home conference in Helsinki (9-12 November, 2006) will bring together networks, foundations and public administrations to discuss and debate mobility in the arts (http://www.ietm.org). On The Move is also a partner in 'Cultural Portals: A New Era of Cooperation', the 2nd International Roundtable co-organised by Culture.Mondo and CultureLink in Dubrovnik (20-22 October 2006). Along with other cultural portals, On The Move will analyse how cultural portals respond to the needs of users and stakeholder, explore new avenues of cooperation and information and measure the impact of their work. On The Move is also organising a Training The Trainers session in Bucharest on 27 October 2006 (co-organised by Ecumest). Cristina Farinha, Aleksandra Uzelac and Sanna Kangasluoma will train 20 eager arts operators and opinion-formers from Eastern Europe regarding different aspects of 'Mobility, Intercultural Competence and Cultural Cooperation in the Age of Digital Space'. Mobiliser l'innovation dans les arts et la culture européenne - Mobilising Innovation in European Arts and Culture (MEAC) MEAC est une étude de faisabilité menée sur 9 mois qui portait sur la conception d'un programme de recherche de grande ampleur. Celui-ci examinait les causes et les conséquences de la mobilité transnationale et interrégionale des artistes européens, des intellectuels, des gestionnaires et autres professionnels du secteur culturel. Le projet a été dirigé par l'institut ERICarts (http://www.ericarts.org), avec le soutien du LabforCulture, et réalisé en coopération avec 13 chercheurs européens. Plusieurs réunions de réflexion ont été tenues dont le séminaire 'Brain Drain - Brain Gain' (Moscou, novembre 2005). Les études de cas ont permis de montrer les barrières à la migration et à la mobilité dans les Balkans de l'Ouest, la Lituanie, la Pologne, l'Autriche, l'Italie et les pays nordiques. Un rapport complet, mettant en valeur 10 secteurs clés et permettant une recherche plus empirique et conceptuelle, est attendu à l'automne 2006.

Bridge Guard Residential Art/Science Centre (Etude de cas) La section "Etude de cas" du LabforCulture.org offre une mise en perspective dynamique de la coopération culturelle européenne. Nous présentons dans cette rubrique la parole des artistes et des administrateurs qui ont participé à des projets transfrontaliers en Europe. ( http://www.labforculture.org/en/content/view/full/180) L'une des études de cas présentée dans cette section est celle du programme de résidence < Bridge Guard > (trad. : < préservation du lien >). Initié en 2004, ce programme soutient des artistes et des chercheurs qui développent des projets valorisant la mise en connexion, la réunion des opposés, la rencontre de l'inconnu. Elle offre la possibilité de réaliser une résidence à Štúrovo, en Slovaquie. Basés dans le musée d'histoire local, les artistes/chercheurs peuvent travailler sur leur propre projet tout en préservant le lien historique important créé par Mária Valéria entre Štúrovo et Esztergom (Hongrie), ils participent également à des activités avec la communauté locale. (< Tant que la connexion mentale avec les gens est intacte, le lien n'est pas mis en danger >). On the Move - Forthcoming Activities in a Partnership Mode On The Move (http://www.on-the-move.org) est partenaire du projet 'Mobile.Home', qui célèbre < l'Année européenne de la mobilité des travailleurs". Le centre d'accueil et de conseil Mobile.Home répond aux questions légales et financières rencontrées par les artistes et les opérateurs culturels se déplaçant dans d'autres pays pour leur travail. Ce centre d'accueil sera ouvert à partir du 15 octobre. Les partenaires de Mobile.Home (Goethe Institut de Bruxelles, Visiting Arts UK et la Fondation Fitzcarraldo) ont commissionné des témoignages sur la mobilité de la part de différents artistes. Ces < portraits > apparaîtront sur plusieurs sites Internet à partir de cet automne. La conférence Mobile.Home, qui se déroulera à Helsinki du 9 au 12 novembre 2006, réunira des réseaux, des fondations et des administrations publiques afin de débattre sur le thème de la mobilité artistique (http://www.ietm.org). On The Move est aussi l'un des partenaires de "Portails culturels : une nouvelle ère de la coopération", la 2ème table ronde internationale co-organisée par Culture.Mondo et CultureLink à Dubrovnik du 20 au 22 octobre 2006. Avec d'autres portails culturels, On The Move analysera en quoi ces portails répondent aux besoins des utilisateurs et des Stakeholders, comment ils explorent de nouvelles voies de coopération et d'information et enfin mesurera l'impact de leur travail. On The Move organise également une formation à Bucarest le 27 octobre 2006 (co- organisé par Ecumest). Cristina Farinha, Aleksandra Uzelac et Sanna Kangasluoma formeront 20 opérateurs intéressés par l'art ainsi que des formeurs d'opinions provenant d'Europe orientale sur les différents aspects de la < Mobilité, la compétence interculturelle et la coopération culturelle à l'ère digital >.
